Oriental Knot

If one knot can be designated as the basic knot, then it is the Oriental Knot. A super simple knot that fits perfectly in an instant. Ideal if you have limited time or if you are a beginner in tie knotting. It is extremely popular in China, comparable to the popularity of the Four in Hand knot in the west, which it has a lot in common with.

  1. Hang the tie around the collar with the back facing forward, the wide part on the right and the narrow part slightly above navel height. The exact height depends on the stature and thickness of the tie. Only the wide part is used when tying the tie.

  2. Cross the wide part horizontally behind the narrow part of the tie.

  3. Cross the wide section in front over the narrow section.

  • Result: A fine, elegant knot. Fairly thin, but beautiful and balanced in shape.
  • When to wear? Appropriate for every occasion. Very suitable for thick ties, such as knitted and woolen ties. And in an emergency: if your tie is too short, this knot will save the day!

Background Information: The Oriental Knot

Not very surprisingly, this basic knot is also known as the Simple Knot. What’s unusual is that you start by hanging this tie around your neck so that the lining hangs forward. This is an uncommon approach, with only 2 of the 8 knots that we have presented to you is this the case. Even after the knot is complete, the “tail” (the narrow part of the tie) remains turned around. The front of the tie is of course worn with the lining to the rear.

Excellent tie, silky soft material and extra long as advertised. Allows taller folk to tie knots that use more length.

Thrilled with the tie….absolutely perfect colour and quality. Service and delivery were without fault. About to order two further ties!

Excellent service and quality. I ordered replacement leather ends for braces. They arrived within a few days and I am very satisfied.
Sometimes the quality of on line purchases is not what is claimed. This company seems to be honest and what it says is what you get.
Thanks

I ordered a pair of braces for my husband as part of his Christmas gift. He was over the moon with them and they are of really lovely quality. The colours in the two-tone set I chose go really well together and he\'s already worn them multiple times over the holidays. Delivery was also very quick!
